ClearBags has officially gone live with a new Amazon FBM – NetSuite integration using Celigo. This project marks a major shift in how the company manages its Amazon operations. Although ClearBags already relied on Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon), all FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) orders and workflows were handled manually. The new integration removes that bottleneck and unlocks immediate opportunities for growth.
This go-live is an important milestone for ClearBags. It supports their goal to move a larger share of sales toward FBM, improve operational efficiency, and scale their Amazon channel with confidence.
About ClearBags and Its Wholesale eCommerce Operations
ClearBags is a second-generation family-owned wholesale company, founded in 1992. What began as a small poster business soon evolved. Customers loved the crystal-clear protective bags so much that ClearBags shifted focus entirely from posters to packaging. Today the company offers one of the broadest product catalogs in flexible packaging, with more than 5,000 products in stock.
ClearBags prides itself on offering flexible ordering (low minimums), wholesale pricing, versatile customization, fast shipping, and expert customer support, selling through major eCommerce channels, including Amazon. By starting the NetSuite-Amazon FBM integration now, ClearBags is positioning this well-established packaging business to better serve small and large merchants, giving them access to greater fulfillment flexibility and faster turnaround through FBM.
1. Problem: Manual Amazon FBM Operations Limiting Growth
While they had an integration in place on Amazon FBA for many of its operations, its FBM workflow remained almost entirely manual. This created limits on how many products they could list and how much volume they could process. Their goal was to automate these tasks to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and create a path for long-term FBM expansion.
The team received MFN (Merchant Fulfilled Network) orders through Amazon, copied details into NetSuite, sent information to the warehouse, uploaded tracking back into Amazon, and maintained inventory and pricing manually. Since these steps were repeated for each order, FBM volume had to remain intentionally low. Even though ClearBags could have had let’s say 2,000 items in NetSuite, only a fraction of those items were listed on Amazon because inventory updates took too long to manage manually.
Without automation, the company could not maintain accurate inventory for FBM. They continued limiting quantities on Amazon to avoid overselling and cancellations. Growth potential was there, but the manual workflow made it difficult to scale.
2. Existing Process: Manual MFN Workflow and Limited Amazon Catalog
Before integration work began, ClearBags operated two distinct processes. Amazon FBA ran in an automated flow, while Amazon FBM relied on manual tasks.
For FBM, the process looked like this:
- A customer placed an order on Amazon.
- ClearBags downloaded the order details by hand.
- The team re-created the order in NetSuite to send it to the warehouse.
- Once the warehouse shipped it, tracking information had to be uploaded to Amazon manually.
- Inventory and pricing updates were also adjusted by hand, item by item.
All FBM activity was kept minimal because the workload was too heavy to support expansion. The company wanted to increase FBM volume, but the operational cost prevented it.
3. Change Introduced: Amazon FBM to NetSuite Automation for Orders, Fulfillment, Inventory, and Pricing
The new integration automates the entire Amazon MFN and FBM workflow between NetSuite and Amazon. ClearBags now receives FBM orders directly into NetSuite as Sales Orders with no manual entry. The warehouse receives orders faster, and shipment updates return to Amazon automatically.
Inventory and pricing are also synchronized automatically. Instead of limiting their Amazon catalog, ClearBags can now safely expand it. NetSuite quantities are pushed to Amazon in real-time, which removes guesswork and prevents overselling.
The integration includes:
- Automated import of Amazon MFN orders.
- Automated creation of Sales Orders in NetSuite.
- Automated fulfillment updates sent back to Amazon.
- Real-time inventory sync from NetSuite to Amazon.
- Automated pricing updates.
- Billing flows that generate Invoices in NetSuite.
- Settlement flows that bring Amazon settlement reports and transactions into NetSuite for reconciliation.
- A complete FBM process with no manual data entry.
4. Solution: NetSuite Amazon Integration for NetSuite Order to Cash, Shipment and Fulfillment Automation
We implemented a full Amazon FBM and MFN integration using Celigo. This setup enables ClearBags to run an accurate, efficient, and scalable Order to Cash process within NetSuite.
The solution covers:
- Order automation for FBM.
- Fulfillment and tracking updates that flow back to Amazon.
- Automated pricing and inventory updates.
- Billing flows that support financial accuracy in NetSuite.
- A streamlined integration that allows ClearBags to grow their FBM presence.
With everything connected, ClearBags can now shift a significant portion of sales from FBA to FBM. The new process strengthens their operational control and supports their larger strategic plan to grow direct fulfillment.
5. Results: FBM Scalability, Inventory Accuracy, and Operational Efficiency
The impact of this go-live is immediate. ClearBags has eliminated every manual step in the FBM workflow. The team no longer needs to copy orders, update inventory, upload tracking, or adjust pricing by hand.
With automation in place:
- FBM orders can scale without adding staff.
- The company can expand its Amazon catalog.
- Inventory accuracy improves and reduces the risk of cancellations.
- The warehouse receives orders faster and with fewer errors.
- Billing entries in NetSuite are now automated, which supports accounting efficiency.
ClearBags now has a reliable and scalable structure supporting its shift toward FBM growth. What once required repeated manual tasks is now a seamless, automated workflow that enables long-term expansion.
6. Expanding Amazon FBM and Optimizing NetSuite Workflows
This project was completed quickly. The ability to deliver and go-live within a short timeline was a major win for ClearBags. It validated that automation can remove significant operational barriers for small teams.
As ClearBags increases its FBM volume, the integration will allow them to list more products, manage orders more efficiently, and improve customer experience on Amazon. The next steps include expanding the number of SKUs listed, increasing FBM capacity, and continuing to optimize performance now that the core automation is in place.
The transformation sets the foundation for growth. With manual work removed, ClearBags can focus on strategy rather than repetitive tasks.
